António Oliveira

n. 1978. Oporto, Portugal

António Oliveira was born in Oporto in 1978. He studied at the Music Academy of Vilar Formoso, at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo (Oporto’s Instituto Politécnico), at the Hochschüle der Kunst in Berlin, and at The Hartt School, (University of Hartford, USA), with Hugo Berto Coelho, Sofia Lourenço, Laszlo Simon and Luiz de Moura Castro. He also received guidance from Helena Sá e Costa, Pedro Burmester, Mikail Pethukov and Emmanuel Ax. He is an active recitalist, in both solo and chamber music repertoire, having played in many concert halls in Portugal and abroad. He has played with the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira and the Orquestra do Norte, under the direction of Rui Massena, Sandor Gyudi and Miguel Graça Moura.

Along with the clarinet player António Rosa, they form the Projecto XXI.

António Oliveira became a piano teacher at the Conservatório de Música do Porto in 2002.
